Mr Akenberg explained the concept of a home’s evolution with the IoT in a series of talk on the segment known as ‘Experts On Air’ under Singularity University.
The boom of connectivity birthed the concept of the Internet of Things and the smart home. As we depend heavily on connectivity to complete our daily routine, we become the drivers of the revolution in which we define its innovators to come up with more ways on how connectivity can make our lives even more convenient. As innovators create products, it makes its way to the commercial market where consumer demand will further drive the industry to churn out better products and platforms.
This is true with the concept of smart homes where the modern home is being defined right in our time as smart systems, products and devices are on the cusp of a mass market boom. Our dependence on connectivity has trickled to the concept of modern living. “Right now we have single devices that are connected,” Arkenberg was quoted by Singularityhub. “Companies are still trying to show what the true value is and how durable it is beyond the hype,” Arkenberg explained.
Singular devices being connected to the internet is just the start of the smart home where industry analysts have noted that the market has more potential to further innovate and build upon the current generation of smart devices. Soon, smart singular devices will be harnessed into a system which will define the system under each smart home.

Homeowners can now see the contributors to their high energy bill and armed with that information, can make quick decisions on how to cut down on their inefficient energy consumption.
